Observed installations are unique installation IDs, dated by their earliest received event timestamp. First opens count IDs with a first_open event. Reinstalls or state resets can create another ID. These are devices, not people or binary downloads.
DAU is today UTC; WAU and MAU include today and the preceding 6 or 29 UTC days. Only active_day events count. Today's values are partial; delayed uploads can revise history.

Exact UTC day N after the earliest observed event date. Only cohorts whose target day ended before today are eligible. Numerator: eligible installations with active_day on that target date. Denominator: all eligible observed installations. Zero eligible installations means no rate.
